Threads is launching new parental control features named Parental Supervision, which will begin rolling out next week. The features aim to enable parents and guardians to monitor their teenagers’ activities on the platform.
Parental Supervision provides parents insights into the amount of time a teen spends on Threads. It includes options to set time limits, adjust sleep mode hours, and restrict which tags a teen can view. Additionally, guardians can apply other limitations on privacy and content settings.
The tools are designed to work alongside existing restrictions on all teen accounts on Threads. Adults can access these features through Meta’s Family Center hub as the rollout commences.
Meta has aimed to enhance the safety of kids using its products since before it rebranded from Facebook. Recent initiatives include sharing discussion topics that teens engage in with Meta AI with their guardians and implementing measures to limit repeated exposure to potentially harmful content on Instagram.
