Suno has launched iMessage integration for its generative AI music application, enabling users to create 30-second audio clips directly from messages using text or voice prompts. Users can access this feature by tapping the plus button in a chat and selecting Suno.
Once in the app, users can paste a friend’s message as a prompt and choose a genre for the music. However, the recipient must also have the Suno app installed to listen to the generated audio, a requirement that some users expressed relief about.
A critique in the source article notes that while the tool offers a mechanized approach to music generation, it lacks the personal touch of direct audio communications like voice notes. The generative music system reportedly trained on tens of millions of tracks, including claims of copyrighted works, raising concerns about the originality of the output.
Alternatives, such as creating a voice note about casual topics, were suggested as more meaningful forms of communication compared to Suno’s automated music offerings.
