Xiaomi has announced its latest flagship smartphone lineup, featuring the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. The company began open sales for the new series in its domestic market of China shortly after the official unveiling. This new generation of devices is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.
In a post on the social media platform Weibo, Xiaomi announced that the new series set a sales record for the company’s flagship smartphones. According to the announcement, this milestone was reached within the first five minutes of the three models going on sale. While this indicates strong initial demand, Xiaomi has not yet released the exact sales figures or revenue from the launch period. The strong performance could position the Xiaomi 17 lineup to become one of the brand’s best-selling flagship series.
The launch strategy for the 17 series differs from last year’s approach. The previous Xiaomi 15 series debuted with only two models, the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro. A third model, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, was released globally several months later. The availability of three models at the initial launch for the Xiaomi 17 series may be a factor in the higher sales volume recorded this year.
The company is offering the Pro models in what are described as two different form factors: a “compact and tall” version. This provides consumers with a choice of device size within the premium Pro offerings. The initial sales data points to significant consumer interest in the new flagship trio.
