Minecraft’s new update will introduce a long-requested feature that allows players to sit down. The game, which has been available for 20 years, previously allowed players to engage in various activities but lacked a sitting option. Players could only rest in beds or use boats and mine carts, leaving many eager for a more practical solution.

The addition of the sit feature was revealed during a deep dive into the upcoming update. Alongside the ability to sit, the update will also introduce straw beds, a new biome, and additional enhancements. Players will utilize new cushions for sitting, and developers expect a range of creative uses for this functionality.

The update is expected to be released for all players this fall. However, players with access to preview builds can already test the sit feature. Excitement is palpable among fans who have been requesting this capability for 17 years. Many players view it as a crucial addition for enhancing roleplay without relying on mods.

“[The] ability to sit down without mods feels massive,” one player commented on the announcement video. Another added, “The way I cheered at the announcement of being able to sit, you’d think Mojang announced an End Drop.”

In related news, Microsoft has initiated a restructuring of Xbox, leading to Minecraft leadership reporting directly to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma. Sharma stated that she believes Minecraft has been “massively underinvested” despite the franchise’s successful spin-offs, merchandise, and a film that nearly reached a billion dollars in box office revenue.
