Anthropic has updated its Claude Cowork software, enabling users to manage tasks from their mobile phones through a new update of the Claude app for Android and iOS. The update introduces a Cowork tab in the app’s sidebar, marking a significant expansion of the software’s capabilities initially launched at the beginning of 2023.
The update allows users to monitor Claude’s activities on their home computers but does not support task automation on mobile devices. Users will receive notifications on their phones when Claude requires permission to complete a task, which must be approved before it can proceed. “Nothing ships until you’ve reviewed and approved it,” Anthropic stated.
Claude Cowork can now run tasks in the background without requiring a constant internet connection, enhancing its usability for remote management. In the future, Anthropic plans to integrate Cowork with its chatbot, allowing users to converse with Claude and assign computer-related tasks from a single interface. This integration will be rolled out first on Claude’s web client and desktop app.
Additionally, Anthropic plans to introduce a feature called “Projects,” which will allow users to group chats and files by topic, optimizing the utilization of Claude’s context window. The company also intends to combine small apps and games, referred to as “artifacts,” that Claude can create for users.
Max subscribers received early access to this update, with plans for the mobile integration to be extended to other subscription plans in the coming weeks.
