Discord is now available as a native app on Meta Quest headsets, following an announcement made at last year’s Meta Connect conference. The launch addresses user demands for a dedicated app after many resorted to workarounds to access Discord on their VR devices.
The native app is designed to enhance the user experience compared to previous sideloading methods. It provides access to standard features including servers, direct messages, and calls, mirroring the functionality available in other platforms.
New enhancements include integration with the Meta Quest’s built-in microphone, improving call quality. Users can also pin the Discord interface within their gaming space for easy access while playing.
Additionally, the app supports direct streaming of gameplay to Discord from the Meta Quest. Users will have the ability to join calls using their Meta avatars, further enriching the interactive experience.
