Spotify launched its new feature, SongDNA, which allows users to explore detailed components of their favorite songs, including collaborations, covers, and samples. The rollout began on Tuesday and is available for Premium subscribers on both iOS and Android.

SongDNA aims to enhance user engagement by providing an interactive experience that expands upon the existing “About the Song” feature. By tracing relationships among artists, the feature helps users understand how musicians are interconnected and influence each other’s work. Additionally, it serves as a tool for music industry professionals seeking to discover new collaborators and production talent.

This feature builds upon data from the community-driven music database WhoSampled, which Spotify acquired last year. Reports indicate that Spotify focused on developing SongDNA based on app code references identified by reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong. The company confirmed plans to launch the feature in early 2026.

SongDNA competes with TIDAL’s interactive credits, also providing insights into the contributors involved in song creation. Jacqueline Ankner, Spotify’s head of Songwriter & Publisher Partnerships, stated, “By bringing collaborators, samples, and covers together in one place, we’re making it easier for fans to discover new music and see how songs connect.”

The rollout of SongDNA is currently in beta testing, with all Premium users globally expected to have access by April. The feature is intended to grant increased visibility and recognition to songwriters, producers, and other contributors in the music industry.
