Method 1: Autohotkey keyboard locker (PC)
- Download the latest release of AutoHotkey Keyboard Locker from GitHub. Choose the executable file for simplicity.
- Save the .exe file to a permanent location like your desktop or documents folder, as it is a portable app.
- Run the executable file. A pop-up will appear in the lower-right corner showing the hotkeys.
- PressCtrl + Alt + k to lock the keyboard. Alternatively, right-click the system tray icon and select Lock keyboard.
- To unlock, typeunlock or right-click the system tray icon and select Unlock keyboard.
- Right-click the system tray icon and select Exit to close the program and prevent accidental locking.
Method 2: Keyboardcleantool software (Mac)
- Download the latest release of KeyboardCleanTool from the folivora.AI website.
- Open the app from your Downloads folder. If a security warning appears, click Open to proceed—but only for trusted sources.
- ClickClick to start cleaning mode/lock the keyboard! at the top of the window to disable the keyboard and Touch Bar.
- Click the same button again to unlock the keyboard. Optionally, check Start cleaning mode immediately after starting this app for auto-activation.
- Click the red circle in the corner to close the app when finished.
Method 3: Disabling via device manager (PC)
- Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Windows button and selecting Device Manager, or search for it in the taskbar.
- Expand the Keyboards section. Identify your keyboard by unplugging it if multiple are listed.
- Right-click your keyboard and select Disable device. If unavailable, select Uninstall device instead. Warning: This may require admin access.
- To re-enable, right-click the keyboard in Device Manager and select Enable device. If uninstalled, restart your PC to reinstall the driver automatically.
Method 4: Turn off or unplug keyboard (PC or Mac)
- For external keyboards, unplug the USB cable or turn off the Bluetooth keyboard.
- Check if your laptop has a built-in keyboard switch and toggle it off if available.
