Apple unveiled the latest version of its wireless earbuds, the AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancelling (ANC). These earbuds have a redesigned shape for enhanced comfort and improved sound quality. Here’s a closer look at what the AirPods 4 offers, from new features to pricing.
With the AirPods 4, Apple has taken a significant step forward in its non-Pro earbud lineup. For the first time, it offers noise cancellation and adds several new features that enhance the listening experience. AirPods 4 promises to deliver better sound quality and hands-free convenience at a competitive price.
AirPods 4 specs
The AirPods 4 come in two versions: a standard model and one featuring Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), marking the first time Apple has included this technology in its non-Pro line of AirPods. Both versions keep the familiar open-air design, but Apple claims it is its “most comfortable” design with a new shape.
Apple is also bringing better audio quality, with enhancements that include personalized spatial audio support for a more immersive listening experience. For users concerned with convenience, the AirPods 4 now includes wireless charging as standard, alongside a Find My feature that includes a built-in speaker in the charging case, previously exclusive to the Pro lineup.
AirPods 4 features
The AirPods 4 will also integrate new Siri Interactions with the upcoming iOS 18 update. Users will be able to respond to Siri’s questions with simple head gestures like shaking their heads “yes” or “no,” making the AirPods even more hands-free. Apple is also introducing a new hearing protection feature for the AirPods Pro line, which is aimed at reducing noise and protecting users’ ears. The H2 chip powers the feature.
AirPods 4 price and release date
The AirPods 4 will be available for pre-order starting today. Both models will officially launch on September 20, 2024. The standard AirPods 4 will cost $129, while the AirPods 4 with ANC will cost $179.
The new version of the AirPods Max will use USB-C
Apple has unveiled a long-awaited update to the AirPods Max, marking the first significant hardware revision in nearly four years. The standout feature of the new model is the switch from Lightning to USB-C, aligning with Apple’s broader move toward universal charging standards.
The refreshed AirPods Max will come in five new colors—midnight, starlight, blue, orange, and purple—for $549. They are available for pre-order now, with official sales starting on September 20th.
