If you don’t know how to set a custom image on the always-on display on a Xiaomi smartphone, keep reading because we are going to help you out. Thanks to AMOLED screens and their energy efficiency, it is possible to set a custom image on the always-on display of your Xiaomi smartphone. We know all Android users love customization options, let’s get going!

The always-on display is a great solution to see notifications without having to turn on the screen. Even though this mode consumes some battery, it’s not a very big deal.

The company offers the possibility to customize some of the elements that appear in this mode, such as the color of the words and numbers that appear, the position of the notifications, etc. Just follow these steps:

  • Open Settings
  • Click on the Always-on display and Lock screen.
  • Click on the Always-on display.
  • Click on Custom Image.
  • Select Add from the gallery.
  • Choose the image you want to add, crop it, and click Apply.
  • You can choose any photo, but not all of them will adapt equally well.

Although you can use any photo, even one taken with the camera, there are some that will be more energy-efficient, as those with a black background will consume less battery than the rest. If the image has a white background, it will not be great when it comes to battery life.

You should also keep in mind that this image will be displayed in a limited space on the screen, as Xiaomi wanted to ensure that this feature does not consume more battery than necessary by limiting the space it occupies on the lock screen.
