Detailed information about Apple’s suppliers and manufacturing processes was revealed in a data leak at Tata Electronics last week. The leak included specifics related to components and suppliers for the iPhone 18 Pro, with documents allegedly posted on “the dark web” showing hundreds of parts, including chips on the main circuit board and details concerning the smartphone’s battery and cameras, according to Reuters. Last week, AppleInsider reported that over 630GB of data was stolen from the India-based company during the cyberattack.
Other companies, including Tesla and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., were also affected, but much of the leaked information pertained specifically to Apple. Tata Electronics has become one of Apple’s key suppliers outside China. Apple confirmed it is collaborating with Tata on long-term security measures and is investigating the incident.
The exposure of sensitive supplier relationship details could complicate Apple’s future negotiations with partners, particularly as the company faces rising product prices due to RAM shortages. Apple is anticipated to announce the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and potentially its first foldable smartphone this fall.
