Google has confirmed the discontinuation of production for the Nest Home Mini and Nest Audio smart speakers. This decision follows the introduction of a new smart home speaker that aligns with Google’s strategy to incorporate its Gemini chatbot across products.
The Nest Home Mini was launched in 2017, and both devices have been available for approximately five years. Despite the production halt, existing Nest Mini and Nest Audio units will remain functional, according to a Google representative. “Existing Nest Mini and Nest Audio devices will continue to be fully supported with regular software updates, security patches and customer care,” the representative stated.
The new Google Home speaker launches at a price of $100, consistent with the previous Nest Audio pricing. In contrast, the Nest Home Mini had a retail price of $50, often available at a lower price. Regular updates will ensure continued support for users of the discontinued models.
