OpenClaw has released standalone applications for iOS and Android devices, marking its entry into the App Store and Play Store marketplaces. Users can chat with the AI assistant and permit it access to device components such as the camera, screen, location, photos, contacts, calendar, and reminders.
This launch positions OpenClaw as a significant player in the AI sector. The initiative operates as an open-source project under the management of the OpenClaw Foundation, following the transition of founder Peter Steinberger to OpenAI earlier this year. Steinberger’s hiring announcement noted that OpenAI will offer unspecified support to the OpenClaw Foundation.
Apple’s review process for AI tools, particularly agentic AI, has been notably strict. The company has blocked numerous agentic applications over concerns regarding the security of vibe coding. Prior to the release of the OpenClaw apps, iOS users relied on chat applications like Telegram or WhatsApp to communicate with their AI agents.
