OpenAI announced the launch of the OpenAI Partner Network, its first formal partner program, supported by a $150 million investment aimed at certifying 300,000 consultants by the end of 2026. The program is scheduled to go live in July and seeks to establish a global ecosystem of system integrators, AI-focused managed service providers, and consultants capable of deploying OpenAI technology at scale.
The OpenAI Partner Network comprises three tiers—Select, Advanced, and Elite. Partners will advance through these levels based on sales performance, technical capability, co-selling engagements, and deployment experience, according to details first reported by CRN. Additionally, partners can earn specializations in various focus areas, including Codex, cybersecurity, API, and agent transformation.
OpenAI is piloting a Forward Deployed Experts program for its Elite partners, providing on-site training led by the company’s engineers. Colleen Kapase, OpenAI’s Vice President of Global Strategic Partners and Ecosystem, stated, “This is a massive opportunity for any partner out there. We have 900 million weekly active users of OpenAI technology — 900 million weekly — that’s amazing. Partners do not want to miss this opportunity.”
The investment will fund partner enablement, offset service delivery costs, and support market development funds. The launch of the partner program builds on a series of enterprise-focused initiatives by OpenAI, including the February launch of the Frontier enterprise platform and partnerships with Accenture, Boston Consulting Group, Capgemini, and McKinsey.
In May, OpenAI established the OpenAI Deployment Company, a standalone $4 billion professional services venture with backing from 19 investors. Kapase emphasized quality over quantity in partner recruitment, stating, “We’re not looking for quantity, we’re looking for quality with a high bar, AI-focused, transformational oriented, and able to keep up with the pace of OpenAI.”
The program’s announcement coincides with expansions in rival Anthropic’s partner ecosystem, which recently introduced a Claude Partner Network and services track.
