Google launched a new image-editing app called Google Pics, which integrates generative AI tools with advanced editing capabilities. Built on a technology named Nano Banana, the app features object segmentation, allowing users to move, resize, or transform individual parts of their images, whether they are AI-generated or not.
Google Pics enables direct modification of text within photos, including translation into various languages while maintaining the original font style and size. The app will integrate with Workspace applications such as Slides and Drive, targeting quick poster design and social media content creation, positioning itself as a competitor to Canva.
The app is available starting today to a limited group of testers and is set to roll out globally this summer to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. A preview is also planned for Workspace business users.
In a related announcement, Google revealed that its AI Inbox feature is rolling out to all Google AI Plus and Pro subscribers in the United States. This feature aims to help users prioritize important messages and manage time-sensitive tasks. Since its preview at the beginning of 2026, Google has enhanced it with features like personalized draft replies and instant file access for documents stored in Google Docs and Sheets.
