Apple is scaling back a planned virtual health coach and plans to fold its features into the existing Health app instead, according to a report from Bloomberg.
The project, internally code-named Mulberry, was described as an AI-powered wellness coach that could guide users through exercise, sleep, and other health habits. People familiar with the effort told Bloomberg that Apple wound the initiative down in recent weeks and decided to ship some of its planned tools as individual additions to the Health app over time instead of launching a standalone coaching service.
Mulberry sat inside Apple’s broader push into wellness and subscription services, which already includes Fitness+, Apple Watch health tracking, and health data features on iPhone. Shifting away from a dedicated AI coach suggests Apple is being cautious about how it packages more proactive health guidance, especially as digital health products draw closer scrutiny from regulators.
The report does not specify which Mulberry features will appear in the Health app or when users might see them. Apple has not commented publicly on the project, so the timeline and scope of the new coaching tools are still unclear.
For now, the change points to a more incremental approach: instead of a separate virtual coach, Apple appears set to enrich the Health app with new AI-driven coaching features that arrive as part of regular software updates.
