A recent Huawei Mate XTs Ultimate Design teaser has ignited speculation regarding the potential launch of the Mate 80 series. Following announcements, numerous netizens inquired about the release of Huawei’s next-generation flagship smartphones, particularly after posts from Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, on Weibo.
In response to the inquiries, Huawei Customer Service expressed gratitude to consumers for their interest in the upcoming high-end devices but refrained from disclosing any specific details. The official statement directed consumers to monitor Huawei’s official website, Weibo, and the My Huawei app for future announcements.
While Huawei typically releases two flagship phone lineups annually – the Pura and the Mate series – details surrounding the Mate 80 remain scarce. The Pura 80 has already garnered attention with its features, and expectations are high for the Mate 80 series to deliver an enhanced user experience powered by a robust Kirin chipset. However, official information is pending, with Huawei Customer Service suggesting that announcements will be made through official Huawei Weibo channels.
Rumors suggest that the Mate 80 may feature a chipset with a performance increase of up to 60% compared to the Kirin 9000s. Huawei is also reportedly experimenting with new technologies to improve the device’s overall performance and stability. There are also claims that the Mate 80 could incorporate a superior periscope camera compared to the recently launched Pura models. The actual specifications and features of the Mate 80 series will be confirmed at a later date, with a potential launch anticipated around Q4 2025.
