Some say the location of the outpost is always fixed on Denebola I-b, but it’s advisable to follow this quest organically, waiting until you stumble upon the note. During my own adventure, I found this note twice within my first 10 hours of gameplay, indicating it spawns quite regularly.
Exploring the outpost
Once you’ve secured the note, your path to the Mantis Ship will be set. Head to the marked location, and you’ll find yourself at the Secret Outpost. Prepare for a challenging experience as you’ll need to fight your way through a host of enemies within. After prevailing over these adversaries, you’ll face a series of cunning traps designed to test your skills. Don’t fret, though; we’ve got a guide to help you navigate these traps effortlessly.
The Mantis puzzle in Starfield can be solved in one of three ways:
- Label the buttons as “Tyrannis.”
- Crack the code before attempting the puzzle
- Cross across by leaping and accelerating.
Mantis challenge may be quickly and easily solved by just jumping and boosting across to the other side and opening the door. Or, if you prefer the tried-and-true method, you may begin with the letter “T” and proceed to spell the name “Tyrannis” from there. The computer has a Master level lock, so if you wish to utilize your Security Skill to get experience points, you’ll need to be at Rank 3.

With the traps behind you, it’s time to delve deeper into the heart of the Mantis’s lair. For some, the robots within may be hostile, necessitating their elimination. However, this might vary from player to player, depending on previous interactions within the complex.
Claiming the Mantis Ship
Once you’ve successfully infiltrated the Mantis’s stronghold in Starfield, obtaining the coveted Mantis Ship becomes a breeze. Navigate your way to the far side of the base and activate the panel, as shown in the image above. After this, exit the complex and head over to the ship in the overworld. Here, you’ll be able to claim it as your own by entering the cockpit and taking the helm.
