Instagram will allow businesses to schedule photo and video posts with a new API

Instagram will allow businesses to schedule photo and video posts with a new API.

For a long time now, Instagram has not only been the preserve of its users, but there are also company profiles whose presence is gaining more and more ground. The last modification of the service allowed, for example, the opening of stores within Instagram, whose payments, in turn, pass through the Facebook platform so that everything stays in-house.

Features of the new Instagram API

Now, Instagram has announced the creation of a new API aimed once again at the business sector, its Instagram for Business users. An API that will allow them to schedule the publication of images and videos in the feed of the application (for now not in the stories) although with some limits so as not to provoke a wave of spam. Thanks to this API, companies will have the possibility to schedule their publications so that they can set up full working days as the limitation is reset every 24 hours.

According to Instagram itself, companies will be able to use this new API to schedule up to 25 daily publications, including both photographs and videos. Instagram does not specify whether it is talking about 25 individual posts or 25 groups of posts because, remember, Instagram has long allowed posting images and videos in blocks of 10 so that they are grouped under the same time and are seen in the form of a gallery.

Whether or not they reach the limit of scheduled publications, companies will be able to continue using native apps to continue publishing.

The new API refers, however, to the publications in the application’s feed, to the photographs that are then configured in order in the profile of each of the companies. At no time is there any mention of publications in stories or Instagram Reels, although we will keep an eye out in case this changes in the future.

Once this limit of 25 daily scheduled posts is exceeded, Instagram specifies that it will be possible to continue with the usual publication through the platform’s native apps, or the Facebook Creator Studio. The limitation is, therefore, only for scheduled photos and videos, so the limit of daily publications remains infinite.
