Microsoft announced the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, powered by NVIDIA’s RTX Spark chip, designed for demanding AI workloads. The device targets long-running training jobs, agentic AI pipelines, and local model fine-tuning, according to the company. The Dev Box can accommodate greater heat with a 100W thermal envelope and utilizes low-power Arm CPUs.

The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box features up to 128GB of unified memory and offers a petaflop of AI computing power. It includes an embedded NVIDIA RTX Blackwell GPU, providing gaming performance comparable to the RTX 5070 laptop version. Microsoft positioned this device as a competitor to AMD’s Ryzen AI Halo PC and NVIDIA’s DGX Spark mini PC, both priced at $3,999.

Pricing for the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box has not been announced yet. The company stated that the device would be available later this year through Microsoft.com, and it will not be sold in retail stores like Best Buy.
