Google has announced significant updates for its redesigned Gemini app during the I/O developer conference, featuring a new design language called “Neural Expressive.” This update includes a revamped interface, enhanced typography, fluid animations, and haptic feedback. The integration of Gemini Live into the main app experience allows for switched interactions between typing and spoken conversations.

The global rollout of the redesigned chatbot on Android and iOS commenced today. Regional dialects have been introduced, with responses crafted using visuals, graphics, and narrated videos to replace lengthy text responses.

A new AI agent, Daily Brief, will also debut today. Users opting in will allow Daily Brief to aggregate information from connected applications such as Gmail and Calendar, summarizing daily activities and communications. This tool further prioritizes tasks based on user goals and provides suggestions for next steps based on feedback. Daily Brief is available to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscription users in the U.S.

Additionally, Google launched the Gemini Omni model, which generates video content from text prompts, images, and user-uploaded videos. This feature allows users to alter video backgrounds, apply effects, and utilize templates. Users can also create personalized avatars that resemble them to include in their videos. Gemini Omni is accessible today for all Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers.

Another new feature is Gemini Spark, described as a “24/7 personal AI agent” operating on Gemini 3.5. Spark is integrated with Workspace apps like Gmail, Docs, and Slides, and can link to applications such as Canva, OpenTable, and Instacart. It will perform recurring tasks, including reviewing credit card bills for hidden fees and generating workflow tasks, such as note-taking from emails and drafting reports in Google Docs. Gemini Spark is set to be tested this week, with a subsequent rollout for Google AI Ultra beta subscribers in the U.S.

Gemini Spark will also be incorporated into the Gemini app for macOS this summer, alongside new voice features. The app is designed to accurately convert spoken language, including filler words and expressions, into precise drafts suitable for reports or emails.
