YouTube has launched a zero-minute time limit feature for Shorts, enabling users to effectively remove the content from their app on Android and iOS devices.

This update enhances the previously announced Shorts timer, where the minimum limit was set at 15 minutes. The new option is part of YouTube’s ongoing efforts to provide users, especially parents, with more control over screen time.

The zero-minute timer option was initially disclosed in January as a forthcoming feature for parents. According to YouTube spokesperson Makenzie Spiller, this option is now available for all parents and is being rolled out to all users, including adult accounts.

Once the timer is set to zero minutes, the Shorts tab will not display any videos. Users will receive a notification indicating they have “reached your Shorts feed limit.” Testing indicated that activating the zero-minute limit also removes Shorts from the Home screen.

To enable the time limit, users can access the settings within the YouTube app, proceed to “time management,” toggle on the Shorts feed limit, and select their desired time limit.
