Apple is reportedly testing four different styles for its upcoming smart glasses, aiming to compete with Meta’s Ray-Ban models. Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman stated that the company could unveil the glasses by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
The potential impact of Apple’s entry into the smart glasses market could reshape competition in this sector, particularly against Meta’s second-generation Ray-Ban glasses. Apple is exploring multiple designs, including a large rectangular frame akin to Ray-Ban Wayfarers and a slimmer rectangular variant similar to those worn by CEO Tim Cook. Additionally, the company is assessing larger and smaller oval or circular options.
Apple’s smart glasses, internally code-named N50, aim to feature vertically oriented oval lenses with surrounding lights, setting them apart from competitors. The design will include a variety of colors, such as black, ocean blue, and light brown.
These glasses will be equipped to capture photos and videos and are designed to integrate seamlessly with iPhones. Users will have access to features such as editing, sharing, phone calls, notifications, music, and Apple’s voice assistant. The release may align with an enhanced Siri expected to debut with iOS 27.
Gurman noted that the official reveal of Apple’s smart glasses could occur as soon as late 2026, with a full launch anticipated in 2027. In contrast, Meta’s newest model provides improved compatibility with prescription lenses and customizable fitting options.
