OpenAI has expanded its personal finance features to ChatGPT Plus customers in the U.S., allowing access for the $20/month subscription, previously limited to the $100/month Pro plan. This rollout aims to improve the user experience by learning from real-world usage, according to the company.
The new features enable users to securely connect their financial accounts and view a personalized dashboard that tracks their spending and financial context. “Today we’re releasing a preview of a new personal finance experience in ChatGPT to Pro users in the U.S.,” OpenAI stated. Users can initiate account connections by selecting ‘Get started’ from the Finances sidebar or by using the command ‘@Finances, connect my accounts’ while interacting with ChatGPT.
The process involves linking accounts through Plaid, with Intuit support anticipated soon. Following authentication, ChatGPT will sync and categorize users’ financial data, which may require a few minutes to complete.
The personal finance dashboard will include real-time insights into spending, subscriptions, and portfolio performance. Users are encouraged to share financial goals with ChatGPT for better contextual assistance. OpenAI also emphasizes that users can delete their financial data at any time and that private chats in ChatGPT will not utilize this financial information.
The introduction of these features comes alongside upgrades to ChatGPT and Codex with the new GPT-5.5 version, enhancing the overall capabilities of the platform. OpenAI indicated that the ChatGPT Pro subscription, necessary for accessing these personal finance features, remains priced at $100/month, with the $20/month Plus subscription currently not supporting this function.
