AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition CPU has surfaced in early retail listings in Canada and the United Kingdom, with prices approaching $1,000. Launch is scheduled for April 22.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 features AMD’s Zen 5 architecture, offering 16 cores and 32 threads. The estimated price in Canada is CAD $1,373.99, roughly $985 USD, according to PC-Canada.com and shopRBC.com. In the UK, Overclockers UK briefly listed the CPU at £905.82, although prices have fluctuated, including a temporary listing at £100,000.

This processor has a base clock of 4.3 GHz and a boost clock of 5.6 GHz, which is 100 MHz lower than the standard Ryzen 9 9950X3D due to increased power demands from its dual-cache design. The total cache is 208 MB, comprising 16 MB L2 and 192 MB L3, made possible through 3D V-Cache technology utilized on both core complex dies (CCDs).

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2’s thermal design power (TDP) is rated at 200W, an increase from the 170W of its single-cache counterpart. Previous Ryzen X3D models integrated 3D V-Cache only on one CCD, leaving half of the cores without the cache advantage. The new design enables all 16 cores to leverage the expanded cache, which AMD anticipates will yield 5–10% productivity gains in specific workloads.

If the current retail listings hold, the 9950X3D2 would be priced approximately $300 above the $699 launch price of the single-cache version. AMD’s Senior Vice President Jack Huynh announced the CPU on March 25, highlighting its intended appeal for creators and developers. Alienware has confirmed that its Area-51 desktop will include the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, with a release aligning with the CPU’s launch.
