Google unveiled new features for Pixel devices and the broader Android ecosystem in the March Pixel Drop.
The updates focus on device tracking, security, and AI integration across Google’s mobile platforms. These changes aim to enhance user connectivity and safety while expanding the utility of Google’s software services.
The Find Hub now allows users to share real-time locations within Google Messages conversations. Google partnered with 10 airlines to integrate Find Hub into their baggage recovery process. Luggage recovery requires a missing item to have a Find Hub-compatible tag or network accessory.
Users can turn off location sharing at any time. Google stated that the feature sends tracking information to airlines for lost luggage recovery.
Android users can create a personalized Calling Card with a photo, font, and color for display in Phone by Google. Google Play introduced a feed of Google Play shorts for app discovery.
The Circle to Search feature was improved to make it easier to virtually try items or shop for fashion from videos and social media posts. Magic Cue, an AI feature from the Pixel 10, now delivers restaurant recommendations.
Pixel smartphones received new AI-generated custom icons for the home screen with six different styles. Pixel smartwatches gained new alerts for when a phone is lost or left behind. Pixel watches now have access to Express Pay.
Pixel watches received new safety alerts for earthquakes. Satellite SOS is rolling out to more users in Europe, Canada, Hawaii, and Alaska.
