YouTube has launched a dedicated app for Apple Vision Pro, two years after the headset’s debut. Initially, the company directed users to its web version through Safari, which lacked features such as offline downloads and proved less practical for travel or disconnected viewing.

Third-party apps, including Juno, emerged on visionOS to address the gap but were removed after violating YouTube’s Terms of Service.

The new app delivers standard videos and YouTube Shorts on a theater-sized virtual screen within a fully immersive environment. It includes a Spatial tab for discovering spatial videos in 3D, VR180, and 360-degree formats. Apple Vision Pro models equipped with the M5 chip support 8K playback. Users control the app via gestures, including resizing windows and scrubbing through videos.

This release follows native visionOS apps from competitors such as Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount, and Peacock, which arrived at the headset’s launch.
