Google appears to be blocking its AI search tools from generating summaries for queries about Donald Trump’s mental acuity, while it provides mixed or full results for similar searches concerning other U.S. presidents.
For the search query “does trump show signs of dementia,” Google’s AI Overviews feature returns a message that reads, “An AI Overview is not available for this search.” When the same query is entered in the platform’s dedicated AI Mode, it produces a list of 10 web links εταιρείες of a synthesized text summary. This behavior is consistent for other searches about Trump involving terms like Alzheimer’s and senility, which also yield only a list of links in AI Mode without an AI-generated overview.
The company’s search tools handle queries about President Joe Biden differently. A search for “does biden show signs of dementia” does not generate an AI Overview on the main results page. However, in AI Mode, it provides a summarized response that begins, “It’s not possible to definitively state whether former President Joe Biden has dementia based solely on publicly available information.” For queriesVolatility about Biden and Alzheimer’s, Google does provide an AI overview, stating there is “no clinical diagnosis or public proof that former President Joe Biden has Alzheimer’s disease.”
In contrast, searches involving former President Barack Obama produce different results. A query about Obama and dementia returns an AI Overview. One search result stated, “No public evidence or statements from medical professionals indicate that former President Barack Obama has dementia.” A similar summarized result is also provided when searching for the same topic in AI Mode.
