Sony Honda Mobility announced reservations for the Afeela 1 electric vehicle (EV) at CES 2025. The Afeela 1 is now available for reservation with a $200 fee, marking a significant step in Sony’s EV ambitions after five years of discussions.
Afeela 1 models and pricing
The Afeela 1 will be offered in two versions: the Afeela 1 Origin priced at $89,900 and the Afeela 1 Signature at $109,900. Initially, reservations are limited to customers in California, with deliveries of the Signature model expected to begin in mid-2026 and the Origin model to follow in 2027.
Features and technology integration
Both models will include a three-year subscription to services featuring Level 2+ Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), branded as Afeela Intelligent Drive. Additional features encompass immersive entertainment options, the Afeela Personal Agent, media apps, 3D maps, spatial sound, and 5G connectivity.
A standout aspect of the Afeela 1 is the integration of a PlayStation 5 (PS5) directly into the infotainment system, providing in-car entertainment when the vehicle is stationary. The ADAS leverages 40 sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, radar, and ultrasonic sensors, to navigate and gather data from the environment.
Drivers can interact with the Afeela Personal Agent through natural voice commands, enabling control over various in-car functions and facilitating AI conversations for suggestions on activities. Deliveries of the Afeela 1 Origin and Signature are also slated to begin in Japan starting in 2026, with prices of $89,900 and $102,900, respectively.
Yasuhide Mizuno, Chairperson and CEO of Sony Honda Mobility Inc., expressed the company’s goal to enhance relationships between people and intelligent mobility, stating, “AFEELA 1 can be called a buddy, combining advanced software with meticulously refined hardware. We will meet our customers’ expectations by providing a safe, secure, and comfortable travel experience.”
