Google Maps is adding a new option that will make it easier to navigate the map using Street View. This new option will make it easier for us to see panoramas without losing sight of the location on the map.
Street View has a new view in Google Maps
Google Maps allows you to choose different types of maps and layers for our navigation. And one of the extra features we find in Google Maps is the integration of Street View, which allows us to tour the areas we choose at street level.
And while we can spend hours strolling around the map looking for places in Street View, it can be a little uncomfortable to use it in Google Maps from the mobile, as we lose sight of the location on the map. So if we are looking for a new place, we have to interleave the Street View view with the standard map.
To solve this problem, Google Maps offers a new option for Street View: split-screen. Instead of viewing Street View images in full screen, we can split the screen to keep an eye on the map. It may not be a good idea to use it every time, as the mobile screen may be too small for so much information, but having both views simultaneously has its advantages.
It will save us time since we will be able to locate ourselves more easily when we are on the street looking for a certain address. You do not need to perform any action to enable this split view of Street View. You will see that when you choose Street View, it will automatically show you at the top of its view, and at the bottom the rest of the map. As you scroll through the panoramas shared in Street View, the location on the map will change.
If you prefer to have Street View in full screen, no problem, as you can change the mode at any time. Although it seems a minor update, it can save time and many clicks, since we will not have to change the screen continuously to not lose the location.
