Apple released iOS 27 developer beta 3, enabling early access to enhancements for its AI assistant, Siri, including voice controls for adjusting “Pace” and “Expressivity.” These features, previously marked as “Coming soon,” are designed to make Siri’s interactions feel more natural and personalized, aligning with Apple’s focus on generative AI.

ChatGPT’s voice customization offers users more extensive options, allowing adjustments for warmth and enthusiasm, features introduced in December 2025. Apple aims to bridge the gap by allowing users to modify Siri’s vocal attributes, although ChatGPT’s offerings provide additional stylistic adjustments such as professional or quirky tones.

Siri’s new voice controls, first announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 26) in June, allow users to personalize their experience beyond merely selecting male or female voices. Beta testers can now choose from various accents and adjust speech speed and emotional tone using sliders.

As users make these adjustments, Siri will demonstrate by saying common phrases, such as “You have one new message,” allowing for an evaluation of the sound changes. The updated Siri remains integrated into iOS, allowing users to start conversations through various methods, including speaking, swiping down from the Dynamic Island, typing, tapping the side button, or via a new standalone Siri app.

iOS 27 beta 3 also includes minor updates like a new Reminders app icon. However, some users have reported issues post-update, such as loss of access to Siri’s new features and the reindexing of data on their devices.
