Apple plans to launch the iPhone Air 2 in spring 2027, according to a report from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg. The new device may feature a second rear camera, improved battery life, and include a version of the A20 Pro processor.
The original iPhone Air, introduced in fall 2026, reportedly did not perform well in sales. The device has been seen as a precursor to Apple’s future foldable smartphone, leading analysts to question its long-term place in the product lineup.
Adding a second camera could enhance the appeal of the iPhone Air 2, addressing concerns raised in initial reviews about the limitations of a single rear camera. The rumor indicates a shift in Apple’s strategy toward making the ultralight form factor a more permanent feature of its smartphone lineup.
This latest report supports the notion that Apple is rethinking its product calendar, moving some announcements from fall to spring. Recent product launches included a focus on high-end models in September, alongside the budget iPhone 17e coming in the spring.
Apple has also phased out smaller models like the iPhone mini and iPhone SE in recent years, possibly indicating a strategic pivot towards different dimensions in smartphone design.
