Google Earth has introduced a flight simulator mode, now accessible globally through web browsers. This update was reported by Android Police, citing a social media announcement from Google.
The flight simulator is part of a series of recent enhancements to Google Earth, which in 2024 added a feature for viewing historical recreations of specific times and locations. Users can access the flight simulator by navigating to Explore Earth and selecting the Tools menu.
An FAQ is available for new users to assist with the flight simulator experience. Google reiterated that the simulator is experimental, advising users that some inconsistencies may occur while using the feature. The company emphasized that this mode is intended for casual exploration, rather than serving as a rigorous training tool for actual flight. “The flight simulator is designed for casual exploration rather than high-fidelity aerodynamic training,” Google stated.
