The flight simulator is part of a series of recent enhancements to Google Earth, which in 2024 added a feature for viewing historical recreations of specific times and locations. Users can access the flight simulator by navigating to Explore Earth and selecting the Tools menu.

Google reiterated that the simulator is experimental, advising users that some inconsistencies may occur while using the feature.
