Spotify launched an update to its Prompted Playlists feature, enabling users to find curated podcast episodes using artificial intelligence (AI). The feature is designed to assist users, particularly those who frequently listen to podcasts, in discovering new content based on their interests.

The AI-driven update, available to Spotify Premium subscribers in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden, allows users to input prompts such as “build me a playlist with more shows like Maintenance Phase” to receive personalized podcast recommendations. Spotify’s AI generates a playlist tailored to users’ listening preferences from these prompts.

To access the feature, users must open the Spotify app, click on “Create” at the bottom right, and select “Prompted Playlists.” Users can provide prompts with varying levels of detail, making the tool flexible for different tastes.

This latest addition expands upon the existing Prompted Playlists for music, which began its beta rollout to Premium subscribers earlier this year. The update reflects Spotify’s ongoing integration of AI technologies into its user experience.

At the SXSW conference in mid-March, Spotify Co-CEO Gustav Söderström revealed plans for future AI capabilities, including a feature allowing users to shape their own Taste Profile for more personalized recommendations. In late March, Spotify introduced the SongDNA feature, which provides details about everyone involved in the creation of a song, further enhancing user engagement.
