WhatsApp has launched a noise cancellation feature for beta users on Android version 2.26.14.1. The feature aims to reduce unwanted background noise during audio and video calls, enhancing call clarity for users in noisy environments.
The introduction of this feature is particularly relevant for frequent travelers and individuals who engage in calls outside. The functionality operates in real time, filtering out sounds such as traffic and wind without distorting the speaker’s voice.
According to WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the noise cancellation option appears in the calling menu and is enabled by default. Users have the option to disable this feature if desired. When only one user activates the feature, the audio quality improves for their voice, but the incoming audio remains unchanged unless both users enable it.
WhatsApp is expected to announce availability for all users in the coming weeks. The noise cancellation feature was initially spotted in development in the beta version 2.26.11.8 of the app.
In additional updates, Meta has introduced various features for WhatsApp, including a dedicated app for Apple CarPlay currently in beta testing via TestFlight. Users can now manually locate and delete large files within chats using the Manage Storage option and utilize two separate accounts on iOS devices.
