Google has increased the cloud storage on its AI Pro plan from 2TB to 5TB, effective immediately. The update comes with no additional cost to users, who will continue to pay $19.99 per month for the subscription.
The enhanced storage aligns with Google’s strategy of augmenting its AI subscription offerings. Despite this development, the company has not changed its other Google One cloud storage options for several years, maintaining concern among users regarding the stagnation of these plans.
Shimrit Ben-Yair, a Google executive, confirmed the storage boost via Twitter, emphasizing that users would not incur extra charges. “This upgrade comes at no additional cost,” Ben-Yair stated.
The Basic Google One plan remains at 100GB for $2 per month, unchanged for over a decade. The Standard plan continues to offer 200GB for $3 per month, also stagnant since its launch in 2018. Market analysts express skepticism about future updates to Google’s Google One plans, suggesting that the company is focusing primarily on its AI offerings instead.
Google’s AI subscription plans bundle cloud storage with access to various AI features, which has become a competitive area for the company. The newly adjusted AI Pro plan could help Google maintain its subscriber base while appealing to users seeking more cloud storage without extra costs.
