Bethesda announced the permanent shutdown of The Elder Scrolls: Blades servers on June 30. The mobile spinoff, which featured dungeon crawling and city-building elements, has already been delisted from the App Store and Google Play store, and is currently unavailable on the Nintendo Store.
The shutdown marks the end of a game that garnered over one million iOS downloads in its first week of early access but failed to achieve commercial success comparable to Bethesda’s mainline titles. Players will receive a free bundle of Gems and Sigils before the servers close, with all items in the in-game store available for just one Gem or Sigil each until the shutdown.
Despite initial popularity, The Elder Scrolls: Blades did not fare well critically, receiving a “Generally Unfavorable” score on Metacritic. Critics labeled the game “repetitive” and noted its reliance on numerous microtransactions.
This shutdown follows Bethesda’s previous closure of another spinoff, The Elder Scrolls: Legends, which saw its development halted in 2019 and servers taken offline in January 2025. Players seeking a mobile spinoff of Bethesda’s fantasy universe can still access The Elder Scrolls: Castles.
