Apple announced new AirPods Max 2 headphones, featuring enhanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), improved sound quality, and new intelligent features.
The updated headphones integrate the H2 chip, enabling capabilities like Adaptive Audio and Live Translation, and are positioned to offer a more immersive audio experience for consumers and creators.
AirPods Max 2 will be available for order starting March 25, with availability beginning early next month. The headphones will retail for $549.
The new ANC is up to 1.5 times more effective than the previous generation, according to Apple. This improvement is attributed to the H2 chip and new computational audio algorithms.
Eric Treski, Apple’s director of Audio Product Marketing, stated, “With the incredible performance of H2, AirPods Max are upgraded with up to 1.5x more effective ANC for the ultimate all-day listening experience.”
The device includes a new high dynamic range amplifier for cleaner audio. It supports 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio via a USB-C cable for high-fidelity listening.
Intelligent features introduced with the H2 chip include Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Voice Isolation, and Live Translation. Other new features include studio-quality audio recording and a camera remote function, allowing users to control an iPhone or iPad camera with the headphones.
AirPods Max 2 will be available in midnight, starlight, orange, purple, and blue colors.
The company stated the AirPods Max 2 incorporate 100% recycled rare earth elements in all magnets and 100% recycled gold plating and tin solder in printed circuit boards, aligning with Apple’s 2030 carbon neutral goal.
