Apple has postponed the launch of the AI‑enhanced Siri that was first announced with the Apple Intelligence suite in 2024. The assistant was slated to debut with the iOS 26.4 update in March, but Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says the rollout will be staggered, with some features moved to the May iOS release and others possibly delayed until iOS 27 in September.

Apple attributed the delay to problems encountered during software testing. The revised Siri is expected to function more like large‑language‑model chatbots, allowing users to converse directly without opening a separate app. According to reports, the new system will be powered by Google’s Gemini model.

The postponement marks another setback after a year and a half of repeated schedule shifts for the upgraded digital assistant. Apple has not provided a new definitive launch timeline.

The report notes that Apple’s Siri product managers have faced increasing pressure as the timeline slips. Apple has not disclosed specific technical issues, but the testing setbacks suggest integration challenges with the Gemini backend.
