Do you have multiple calendars synced to your iPhone? If you want to get rid of some clutter, you can delete unwanted calendars from an iPhone. These can be default calendars or calendars added with your email accounts. Here’s how to delete calendars on your iPhone.
How to delete unwanted calendars from iPhone
Follow these three methods to remove calendars, unsubscribe from spam, or delete individual events from the Calendar app.
Method 1: Deleting calendars
- Open the Calendar app.
- TapCalendars at the bottom of the screen. If you’re on an event page, tap the arrow in the top-left corner to go back to the main calendar. All calendars on your iPhone will be displayed in a list, including email calendars.
- Tap the i next to a calendar. You will see categories such as On My iPhone, Other, and any synced email accounts.
- TapDelete Calendar at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively, tapHide All to temporarily clear the calendar’s events from your main calendar. If you have calendars under Other, tap the check-mark icon to deselect it.
- TapDelete Calendar again to confirm. Warning: You must have at least one calendar active; you won’t be able to delete a calendar if it’s the only one you have. If you’re having trouble deleting a calendar from another provider like Google, log in to Google Calendar and delete it there. Delegated (shared) calendars can only be hidden, not deleted.
Method 2: Unsubscribing from calendar spam
- Open the Calendar app.
- Tap the spam event.
- TapUnsubscribe at the bottom of the screen. The event will be removed and you’ll no longer receive notifications or invitations.
- Check your iOS version:
- If older iOS: Go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Subscribed Calendars > select the calendar > Delete Account.
Method 3: Deleting calendar entries
- Open the Calendar app.
- Tap the event.
- TapDelete Event at the bottom of the page.
- TapDelete Event again to confirm. If the event repeats, choose This Event Only or All Future Events. Calendar entries synced to Outlook or Google will also be deleted there.
After cleaning up your calendars, consider syncing only essential accounts to keep your iPhone organized. Review your email and iCloud settings to prevent unwanted calendars from reappearing. You can also create color-coded calendars for work, personal, and family events to stay efficient.
Regular maintenance like this helps reduce notifications and improves focus. If you use shared calendars often, communicate changes with collaborators first.
