Google Photos is testing a revised share sheet interface, which features an animated image carousel but may remove an existing image selection modification tool. This development emerges from version 7.59 of Google Photos combined with Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.

Google developers continue to update its Android application suite, particularly Google Photos, which emphasizes sharing tools. The current sharing workflow in Google Photos allows users to select multiple images from a gallery, after which a carousel sheet appears from the screen’s bottom for review.

The revised interface, in testing with Photos 7.59, occupies the entire screen, scaling image sizes as users scroll. This new design is currently visible on devices running QPR3 Beta 2.

A notable change involves the removal of the “Modify” button. Presently, users can select this option in the top-right corner to alter image selections before sharing. In the updated interface, this functionality appears absent, potentially requiring users to re-select images entirely if changes are needed.

Other minor interface adjustments include the separation between the image carousel and sharing targets, alongside modified labeling and appearance of sharing links. The potential loss of the “Modify” option represents the primary functional alteration identified.

Developers often adjust in-development features, so changes observed in beta versions are not final. The current testing environment, limited to devices on QPR3 Beta 2, suggests this new design might not be released publicly until the next Pixel Drop.
