At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, running from January 4 to January 9, iPolish unveiled press-on acrylic smart nails that change color when an electric charge is applied. The show floor opens on Tuesday.

The product draws from a scene in the 1990 film Total Recall, where a receptionist uses a digital pen to alter her nail polish color. iPolish’s version requires a wand that connects to a smartphone. Users select a color on the phone, then touch the wand to the nail tip. The process delivers a short electric charge, changing the color in about five seconds per nail. The company described the mechanism as electrochemical but provided no further details.

Each nail supports 400 colors and allows unlimited changes, enabling users to match outfits without salon visits. The starter set costs $95 and includes two nail shapes: a shorter Ballerina cut and a longer Squoval. Nails cannot be reshaped without damaging the hardware inside, requiring users to select preferred shapes upfront.

Replacement nails cost $6.50 each for broken or lost ones. iPolish plans to begin shipping in June 2026.
