Microsoft is actively promoting its Copilot AI to Bing users, particularly when they search for rival AI chatbots such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, or Anthropic’s Claude. According to a report from Windows Latest, users encountering these banners are encouraged to direct their queries to Microsoft’s AI service, which then opens the Copilot website with relevant results. The promotional banners feature the phrase “Your Copilot is here.”
Copilot’s results are prominently displayed at the top of search results for competing AI services, accompanied by the message, “Effortlessly ask questions, generate images, and handle tasks with Copilot, your reliable companion.” The promotion is discreetly labeled as an advertisement with the fine print “promoted by Microsoft.” This strategy mirrors Google’s approach, which also promotes its Gemini AI and AI search features on its platform. Microsoft has also integrated its AI into its browser with the recent introduction of Copilot Mode in Microsoft Edge.
