The BG3 Gerringothe Thorm boss can be very annoying to take down, but did you know that there are actually two different ways to overcome this boss in Baldur’s Gate 3? Most of the players don’t know this, but today we will show you how to beat it!

Baldur’s Gate 3 is filled with thrilling challenges, and one such formidable adversary is none other than Gerringothe Thorm. Located in the small town north of Moonrise Towers, Gerringothe is an optional boss fight that prowls on the top floor of the Tollhouse. Taking down this intimidating foe requires cunning strategy and a touch of finesse.

This guide will walk you through two effective methods to conquer Gerringothe Thorm in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to beat BG3 Gerringothe Thorm

Gerringothe Thorm can be found loitering on the top floor of the Tollhouse, nestled to the northeast of Moonrise Towers in Baldur’s Gate 3. Before we dive into the tactics, here’s a crucial tip: steer clear of initiating a conversation with Gerringothe until you’re primed for battle.

When you approach this mysterious boss, a cutscene will start, giving you a brief opportunity to converse, although with a single demand: money. There is a non-combat solution to this conflict, similar to the encounters with Malus Thorm and Thisobald Thorm.

At first, Gerringothe would insist on being paid in gold for his travel. Giving them even a single coin will just satisfy their appetite and increase their demands until your whole party’s gold supply is on the table. But if you decide to hold off on accepting the shiny reward right away, get ready for a boss battle that is coming. You might also decide to challenge Gerringothe to a wits match and try to get him to answer your questions.

It’s only natural to feel inclined towards combat when you first cross paths with Gerringothe, but, as it turns out, this is often the least favorable course of action. Instead, the key to success here is to employ a little trickery, steering the conversation toward a more favorable outcome. Success hinges on the art of passing Skill Checks.

Can you beat the BG3 Gerringothe Thorm boss without fighting?

Rather of leaping headlong into conflict, take a more diplomatic way to manage Gerringothe in Baldur’s Gate 3. This alternate strategy centers on persuading Gerringothe to give up her gold voluntarily. I was able to successfully complete this path with Wyll and the core characters Rogue and Monk.

The technique is simple: offer Gerringothe a single piece of gold and inquire about what you’ll receive in return. Her response, “You may pass the river. But first you must pay,” is your cue to shine. Use your character’s Class Persuasion abilities to persuade her to believe you should take the place of the Toll Collector, or if you prefer, use a simple deception strategy.

Gerringothe will hand over her gold if you can persuade her that you want to take over her duties as the toll collector in Baldur’s Gate 3. This will essentially terminate the argument before it turns into a fight. Remember that this strategy offers a less direct path to success.

In conclusion, Gerringothe Thorm in Baldur’s Gate 3 may seem like a formidable obstacle at first glance, but with the right approach, you can emerge victorious without resorting to direct conflict. By mastering the art of persuasion and deception, you’ll not only save yourself from a grueling battle but also outwit this cunning opponent.
