How to open Command Prompt from the Start Menu?

Another way to run Command Prompt in Windows 10 is to look in its Start menu folder:

  • Open the Start menu
  • Select the Windows System folder.
  • Select Command Prompt from the list.

How to open Command Prompt with Power User menu?

Another option in Windows 10 is through the Power User Menu. Select Command Prompt from the menu that appears after pressing Win+X or right-clicking the Start button if you’re using a keyboard or mouse.

How to open Command Prompt in Windows 8 or 8.1?

  • Click on the Start and go to the Apps screen.
  • Before the Windows 8.1 upgrade, swiping up from the bottom of the screen, or right-clicking anywhere and then selecting All apps, would take you to the Apps screen.
  • In Windows 8, you can quickly launch a Command Prompt window by pressing the Win+X keys simultaneously or right-clicking the Start button and choosing Command Prompt.
  • On the Apps screen under the Windows System section you can find Command Prompt.
  • Choose Command Prompt.

How to open Command Prompt in Windows 7, Vista, or XP

  • Open the Start menu from the lower-left corner of your screen.
  • In Windows 7 and Vista, it’s quicker to type command in the search box at the bottom of the Start menu and then select Command Prompt when it appears in the results.
  • Enter All Programs.
  • Go into Accessories.
  • Select Command Prompt.
