Google has launched a new feature called Video Remix for its AI subscribers, enabling users to edit and transform videos stored in Google Photos using the Gemini Omni AI model. Gemini Omni, which was introduced in May, is designed to create diverse content from various inputs and provides automated editing capabilities.

Video Remix is accessible through the Create tab in Google Photos, featuring a collection of templates for users to reimagine their videos. Examples of functionalities include applying watercolor filters, adjusting lighting, or changing backgrounds, with Google stating that processing time for these edits is just a few seconds.

Gemini Omni serves as a successor to Google’s previous video models, Nano Banana and Veo 3.1. It supports a broader range of inputs and exhibits improved understanding of physical forces like gravity and kinetic energy, leading to more realistic video scenes. The model also allows users to insert digital avatars of themselves into videos, marked by Google’s SynthID tool.

The Video Remix feature is rolling out to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers in the US and select countries starting today.
