How to remove someone from a group chat on various devices
Follow these steps according to your device to effectively remove participants from your group chat.
On an iPhone
- Open Messages and go to the group chat that you want to remove someone from.
- Tap the group of icons at the top of the chat.
- Tap the group to expand the list of members.
- Swipe left over the name of the person you want to remove.
- Tap Remove. If the group has fewer than 4 participants, you won’t be able to remove anyone.
- To add a new contact, tap the + Add Contact button at the bottom of the menu.
- To leave the group, tap the Leave this Conversation link lower in the menu.
On a Samsung Galaxy
- Open Messages and select the group chat you want to edit.
- Tap the group’s name at the top of the chat window.
- Tap Add/remove recipients under the list of members.
- Select members you want to remove from the group.
- If needed, ensure group conversations are enabled by going to Settings in the Messages app, then tap Multimedia messages and toggle on Group conversations.

- Select Remove from group.

- Tap Remove from space or Remove from chat.
