Google is enhancing its Gmail, Docs, and Keep applications by introducing new conversational features branded as “Live.” Gmail Live allows users to pose questions in natural language, eliminating the need to search for keywords. For example, users can ask, “What’s my flight’s gate number?” to quickly retrieve their flight information.
Docs Live enables users to verbally discuss document ideas, which the system will then organize. With the user’s permission, Docs Live can access Gmail and Drive to incorporate relevant details into the document structure. Users may also request the system to gather information from the internet.
In Keep, users can dictate reminders, and the system will organize and generate relevant prompts based on the input. Google stated that these features will be available to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers starting in Summer 2023. A preview will also be offered to Google Workspace business customers around the same time.
