Anthropic has expanded its AI assistant Claude to connect with a wider range of personal applications, including Audible, Spotify, Uber, AllTrails, TripAdvisor, Instacart, and TurboTax. This development follows the prior integration of work-related apps, such as Microsoft offerings, into Claude.
The new app connectors are now accessible to all Claude users, with a mobile version currently in beta. Users can browse and add apps through the “connectors” option found in the “customize” tab on Claude’s sidebar.
Some of the newly connected apps, such as Spotify, already feature similar integrations in OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Once an app is linked, Claude will suggest relevant applications during user conversations, providing tailored recommendations like using AllTrails for hiking advice.
Anthropic emphasized that user data from connected apps will not be utilized for model training, and those applications will not have access to users’ previous discussions with Claude. Users retain the ability to disconnect any app at their discretion.
According to the company, “there are no paid placements or sponsored answers in conversations with Claude.” When multiple relevant applications are available, Claude will rank results based on their usefulness. Additionally, before executing actions like purchases or reservations through connected apps, Claude will seek user verification.
The connectors are part of an overarching strategy to enhance the functionality of Claude, catering to both work and personal needs, thus broadening the utility of Anthropic’s AI solutions.
