How to block group texts on Android devices
Follow these simple steps to effectively block group texts on your Android phone.
- Open Messages. It’s the app with a white speech bubble on a blue background.
- Tap and hold the group conversation. Look for the group conversation you want to mute and long press on it.
- Tap the slashed bell icon. This disables notifications for the group conversation.
Using Textra app
- Open Textra. It’s the app with an icon resembling a blue speech bubble with white curvy lines.
- If not already installed, you can download Textra SMS from the Google Play Store for free.
- Tap a group conversation. Open the group text conversation you want to blacklist.
- Tap ⋮. This icon with three vertical dots appears in the menu bar.
- Tap Blacklist. A message will confirm the conversation has been blacklisted.
- Tap the left-pointing arrow in the top-left corner to return to the main messaging menu.
- You can un-blacklist the group by tapping ⋮, then selecting Settings, Blacklisted, the group conversation, and finally Unblacklist.
Blocking individual members

- Tap People & options. This opens the settings page for the group text.
